Urban Road Safety Prediction: A Satellite Navigation Perspective

نویسندگان

چکیده

Predicting the safety of urban roads for navigation via global satellite systems (GNSS) signals is considered. To ensure safe driving automated vehicles, vehicle must plan its trajectory to avoid navigating on unsafe (e.g., icy conditions, construction zones, narrow streets, etc.). Such information can be derived from roads' physical properties, vehicle's capabilities, and weather conditions. From a GNSS-based perspective, reliability GNSS in different locales, which heavily dependent road layout within surrounding environment, crucial driving. An environment surrounded by tall objects significantly degrade accuracy availability signals. This article proposes an approach predict navigation. Satellite at given location time determined based probabilistic position error bound vehicle-mounted receiver. A metric ground vehicles suggested, method conservative solution proposed. map generated various applications. As case study, used proposed optimization problem formulation safety-constrained path planning.

Road Safety Education and Training from a Public Health Perspective

From a public health perspective, road safety education and training seem to be largely ineffective. There is little scientific evidence to suggest that they contribute to reduced risk, injury or fatality among those targeted. Some programs do influence road user behaviour and reduce the crash risk and/or injury of road users but these appear to be in the minority. Education and training progra...

Moving Object Prediction for Off-road Autonomous Navigation¶

The realization of onand off-road autonomous navigation of Unmanned Ground Vehicles (UGVs) requires real-time motion planning in the presence of dynamic objects with unknown trajectories. To successfully plan paths and to navigate in an unstructured environment, the UGVs should have the difficult and computationally intensive competency to predict the future locations of moving objects that cou...

Effects on road safety of new urban arterial roads.

This paper presents an evaluation of the effects on road safety of new urban arterial roads in Oslo, Norway, and a synthesis of evidence from similar studies that have evaluated the safety effects of new urban arterial roads in other cities. A before-and-after study was made of four urban arterial road projects in Oslo. The study controlled for general accident trends in Oslo and for regression...
